Meet Heather

I am a mom, wife, yogini, writer, and yoga teacher.

I am a Christian.

I am enthusiastic about life and eager to learn and grow each and every day.

I studied Interpersonal Communication at Ohio University and thought I would be on TV one day.

Instead, I graduated college, worked in public service for many years, then became a yoga teacher and writer. Weird, huh? I wouldn’t have it any other way. My soul feels complete and whole when I am doing both.

What’s happening in my life now I never could’ve predicted! I am in awe of the greatness of God

I thoroughly enjoy the outdoors:  hiking, rollerblading, kayaking, site-seeing, bird watching and just enjoying my surroundings regardless of the weather and season.

I love books and hope to write one – or more – one day (sooner rather than later).

I love yoga and talking about yoga to anyone who will listen.

I am barefoot 95% of the time.

On Teaching Yoga

I’ve been a student of yoga since 1998 and became certified to teach in 2007. Accredited by the National Yoga Alliance as an RYT 200, I have about half of the qualifications completed to obtain E-RYT 200 status. Humbled and grateful for my journey thus far, I am FOREVER a student. My teachers include Janice George, Stephanie Keach, Leslie Kaminoff, Brooke Boon, Rolf Gates, Amy Ippoliti, Sydney Solis and Seane Corn. I am eager to learn and am looking forward to completing my course in Yoga Anatomy, plus an intensive in Yin Yoga in 2012. I just obtained certification to teach Holy Yoga classes.

Yoga for Christians

I currently have a website, namaste*heather, that outlines all of my teaching and services. I developed Yoga Prayer to highlight, compile, outline and blog about my own yoga journey as I deepen and grow as a Christian. Read more about my journey up to this point regarding yoga and Christianity on the About page. Find other information from those who know way more than me on the Resources page.
