On Teaching Yoga

Heather has been a student of yoga since 1998 and became certified to teach in 2007. Accredited by the National Yoga Alliance as an RYT 200, she has over half of the qualifications completed to obtain E-RYT 200 status. Humbled and grateful for her journey thus far, she is FOREVER a student. Heather’s teachers include Janice George, Stephanie Keach, Leslie Kaminoff, Brooke Boon, Rolf Gates, Amy Ippoliti, Sydney Solis and Seane Corn. In 2012, Heather became a Registered Holy Yoga Instructor. Holy Yoga combines meditation, asana, scripture and prayer for a unique worship experience. The Holy Yoga Mission Statement: Holy Yoga is an experiential worship created to deepen people’s connection to Christ. Our sole purpose is to facilitate a Christ honoring experience that offers an opportunity to believers and non-believers alike to authentically connect to God through His Word, worship, and wellness.

Yoga for Christians

Heather currently operates another website, namaste*heather, that highlights all of her teaching, writing and other services. She developed Yoga Prayer to compile, outline and blog about her own yoga journey as she deepens and grows as a Follower of Christ. Heather did not grow up in the church and her first real encounter with her spiritual nature came through the practice of yoga. It came through the breath. Unnamed for many years and exploring many other paths, prayer and good works have been her path. Always on a quest to go deeper, she found Jesus in the middle of chaos, stress and sadness. Heather is not an expert, just a girl trying to make sense of this crazy life. To learn more about Yoga and the Christian faith, browse through the Resources page.
